Everyone experiences anxiety at times. Whatever triggers the anxiety, almost always the underlying emotion is fear. Often the fear is buried, and anxiety is what is felt. It could be fear of the unknown, or maybe that a past experience will be repeated in the future.
There are also times we are deeply affected by cultural beliefs, and can experience anxiety because of the influence of those beliefs, even if we don’t consciously feel a connection. For example, can you remember a time you were driving and noticed a police car? Did you find yourself feeling anxious and checking your speed? Even though you may not have had a negative experience with a police officer. Collective beliefs can influence us more deeply than we realize.
